mission

The Sigismund Thalberg International Study Centre was founded in Naples in June 1996 by Principessa di Strongoli Francesca Ferrara Pignatelli, grandniece of the great Austrian pianist, and by maestro Francesco Nicolosi, who is also the President of the Centre.

The Study Centre organises a series of initiatives aiming at increasing the knowledge of the figure and the music of Thalberg in compliance with its statutes.

The Study Centre organises concerts, conferences, congresses, seminars, masterclass, scholarships and the Sigismund Thalberg Internatioanal Piano Competition.

Whoever is interested in Thalberg, his art and his music is welcome. You can become a Thalberg friends of the International Study Centre even without taking any active part in the affairs of the society, but we will be grateful to all  who will contribute with articles, essays and whatever may be published by the Centre, so that Thalberg's music may be more and more studied and appreciated.

Whoever wishes to receive material on the Austrian pianist (biography, bibliography, pictures, scores, etc.) please contact us.
